Foreign ministers of Moldova, Hungary appreciate high level of bilateral relations

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ – Over the last period of time, the Moldovan – Hungarian dialogue has recorded a qualitative leap on all dimensions, offering the possibility of advancing the multitude of bilateral projects in all areas of life, such as: economic, social, cultural, educational, etc. The statement was made by the foreign ministers of Moldova and Hungary, Tudor Ulianovschi and Péter Szijjártó, following the talks held today in Chisinau, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
Reviewing the dynamics of the Moldovan – Hungarian relations in the last period, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi mentioned that due to an efficient synchronisation of the bilateral partnership, it has been achieved an open, constructive and practical political – diplomatic dialogue, resulting in concrete results, in context mentioning the support of Hungary for Moldova's UN resolution on the unconditional withdrawal of foreign troops from its territory, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and the Diplomatic Institute of the MAEIE on cooperation in the field of diplomatic staff training, the support of the Budapest Government of Moldova within the Visegrad group, etc.
The head of the Moldovan diplomacy emphasised that throughout this time Hungary supported on all platforms the efforts of the Government of Moldova to promote the agenda for transformation and implementation of the Association Agreement, the Budapest authorities giving all the expertise on it. "After the talks of today, I convinced myself once again that Hungary is a firm supporter of the European vector of Moldova and will provide constant support for maintaining the pro – European path and implementing the country's sustainable development reforms. In this way, I would like to express my thanks to the Hungarian Government for the valuable projects that it has implemented in Moldova," has said Minister Tudor Ulianovschi.
At his turn, Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister, Péter Szijjártó, has specified that Moldova may also count on the support of Hungary in the process of European integration. "We fully respect the approach of the Government of Moldova, which puts the national interest of the country in the forefront," said the head of Hungarian diplomacy. He also has pointed out that Hungary, as a strong supporter of the Eastern Partnership, will support the authorities of Moldova in various PaE formats, including the Ministerial Conference with the Eastern Partnership states planned for 14 May 2019 in Brussels.
In the bilateral dialogue, Tudor Ulianovschi and Péter Szijjártó, also assessed the current state of trade and economic relations between Moldova and Hungary, finding that more joint action to be needed so as to capitalise on the potential in this area. In order to intensify the trade – economic exchanges, attracting Hungarian investments in Moldova, it was agreed to organise the next meeting of the Moldovan – Hungarian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in the first half of 2019.
Minister Péter Szijjártó donated to the Diplomatic Institute of the MAEIE a set of textbooks from the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and the Diplomatic Institute of the MAEIE on diplomatic staff training, signed in September 2018, in New York.
At the end of the meeting, for the personal contribution to the stimulation of the Moldovan – Hungarian bilateral relations, firm support of the European path of Moldova and special interest and contribution to the creation of the didactic and professional base of the Diplomatic Institute of the MAEIE, Foreign Minister, Tudor Ulianovschi, awarded the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, with the award of the Diplomatic Merit class I.
