Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Customs Service will continue promoting the concept of joint control at the border with Romania and will opt for the synchronization of control actions on the periods with increased flow. Director of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie, the deputy head of the Romanian National Agency for Fiscal Administration, Stefan-Cosmin Dolis and the head of the General Customs Directorate, Daniel Nache, discussed subjects to this effect at a meeting in Bucharest today.
According to Vitalie Vrabie, the joint control at the border is a measure much expected by citizens and carriers. “We will do our utmost to speed up this process. The mechanism has proved its efficiency at those six joint customs checkpoints with Ukraine; therefore, it could be successfully enforced at the Moldovan-Romanian border as well,” Vitalie Vrabie said. The official also stressed the importance of synchronizing the control actions on the periods with enhanced flow.
At the same time, the Moldovan Customs chief suggested to his Romanian counterparts to implement a system of scheduling of the crossing of the state border by trucks, similar to the one due to work in Moldova starting from the next summer. “Due to this application, carriers of goods will be able to preliminarily reserve the time of crossing the border, which will reduce the crowds and ease the traffic. This is a very convenient application, used in more European states. It could be accessed from computer, tablet or mobile phone,” Vitalie Vrabie added.
The representatives of the Romanian customs authority gave assurances that they would analyze the suggestions and would further make efforts for strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
