Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation set forth its position on aspects dealing with the observance of the Security Zone’s regime at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on 14 February.
In a document sent to the other components of the Commission, the Moldovan delegation made an appeal to representatives of Russia, Ukraine and OSCE, to condemn Tiraspol’s illegal actions which jeopardize the security in the region. The Moldovan delegation has earlier unmasked the Transnistrian side’s attempt to change the borders of the Security Zone, presenting a falsified map as a “proof.”
During the discussion of the subjects on the agenda, Moldova’s delegation repeatedly signaled the illegal setting of Transnistrian “border guards” posts along the administrative line (about 22 mobile or fixed posts in all). Although the placement of these military structures in the Security Zone is banned under the Moldovan-Russian ceasefire agreement signed on 21 July 1992, the Transnistrian delegation said that the “border guards” posts would continue working, declining its competence to influence their removal.
As for the identification of a possible solution, the head of Russia’s delegation I. Uvarov proposed to discuss this issue, as well as other important subjects on which there is no consensus, at a meeting of JCC’s co-heads.
At the same meeting, representatives of the OSCE Mission in Moldova delegated to JCC informed about the developments recorded in the activity of the working group on the issue of posts, which held a meeting on 12 February.
Also, the participants in the meeting heard a report by the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for the period 6-12 February 2019.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled to be held in Bender on 21 February.
