Over 80 children diagnosed with cancer in Moldova in 2018

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Over 80 children of Moldova were diagnosed with cancer in 2018. The International Childhood Cancer Day is marked today.
The state secretary general at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Boris Galca, today visited small children suffering from this disease and are treated at the Oncological Institute. “On this day, we should be aware of the role of the society in backing children sick with cancer. I am confident that, by providing an efficient treatment, moral and psychological support, there are chances of healing and return to a normal life. We make every effort for all the small children ill with this serious disease receive treatment and care of the best quality,” Galca said.
Today, children and teenagers hospitalized in sections of pediatric oncology and hematology for children enjoyed pleasant surprises. They received boxes with fruits and participated in a concert together with parents.
The International Childhood Cancer Day was established by the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO) in 2002 and is dedicated to activities meant to draw attention to cancer among children, as well as activities of support for children’s families.
The detection of cancer in children can be difficult; therefore, parents must systematically go with children to control. The principal signs in children, which should alert parents, are: continuous decrease in weight, headaches and vomiting in the morning, pronounced pains of bones and articulations, appearance of swellings or nodules, appearance of a white spot in the eye ball, redness or excessive bleeding in the wake of a round, change of the skin’s colour and continuous tiredness, etc.
About 400 children are recorded with cancer in Moldova, according to the Cancer Register.
