International tender for selecting company due to built new penitentiary in Moldovan capital launched

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - An international tender for the selection of a construction company due to built the future penitentiary in Chisinau was launched today. The announcement on the tender’s initiation was published in the Official Journal of Moldova (Monitorul Oficial) and the Official Journal of the European Union. The deadline for making bids is 13 May 2019, at 10:00 (local time).
According to the Justice Ministry, the tender is open for bidders from all countries. The construction works might last about 36 months.
The bids received at the tender will be assessed by the unit of implementation of the project on reconstruction of the penitentiary (UIP). Subsequently, the unit will adjudge and sign the contract for the carrying out of the construction works.
In elaborating the project documentation, the members of UIP and the designing company were guided by European recommendations. Thus, each person in the custody of the state will have needed space of detention and will also be able to get involved in activities of training, cultural and educative, creation, sports activities, workshops, walks, sports exercises and games in open air. The time meant for these activities will be of eight hours per day.
The project outline of the penitentiary was worked out by a consortium of Dutch and Moldovan companies and the execution project was developed by a national designing company.
