Foreign affairs minister of Moldova, vice prime minister of Romania discuss deepening of Strategic Partnership between two countries

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - The deepening of the strategic partnership between Moldova and Romania, development of the bilateral cooperation in the most diverse sectors and implementation of Moldova’s European agenda today were discussed at a dialogue between Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and Vice Prime Minister for Romania’s Strategic Partnerships’ Implementation Ana Birchall. The meeting represented a continuation of the dialogue between the two officials, started at the World Economic Forum, held in Davos in late last January, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
At the meeting, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ commitments to implement the complex process of domestic reforms, especially in the fields of justice, relations with mass media and civil society. He voiced confidence that the progress made in these sectors would represent additional arguments for boosting the Moldova-EU dialogue. In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head highly appreciated the active role of Romania in the backing of Moldova’s European integration, including through technical assistance, transfer of expertise in related fields, as well as through the promotion of joint political and diplomatic steps in the relations with the EU structures and member states.
Vice Prime Minister Ana Birchall reconfirmed Romania’s support for the process of reforms assumed by the Moldovan government. She stressed willingness to further consolidate the Strategic Partnership for Moldova’s European Integration, including through the implementation of social and economic projects and extending the technical assistance in sectors of strategic interest. “I assure you of the commitment of the government led by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila for the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Moldova and of the fact that the backing of the European integration of your country represents one of the major priorities for us, both for the period of the rotating presidency of the Council of EU in this first half of 2019 and after the end of it,” Ana Birchall emphasized.
Referring to the dynamic of the special and privileged relations between Moldova and Romania, developed within a bilateral Strategic Partnership, the two officials exchanged opinions on prospects for deepening this partnership in the political and economic fields, especially in the sectors of energy, transport infrastructure, cultural, social sector, etc. While highlighting the importance of the bilateral Strategic Partnership in extending and deepening the bilateral collaboration in all sectors and proceeding from the idea that, in 2020, Moldova and Romania will mark the tenth anniversary of the signing of the joint declaration on its establishment, the sides backed the idea of the bilateral consultations on the up-dating and completion of the document with new enforcement fields.
