More people accommodated in tourism structures of Moldova in 2018

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - The number of tourists accommodated in tourist reception structures of Moldova increased by over eight per cent, reaching 364,000 people, in 2018.
Most tourists who benefited from accommodation services in Moldova – more than 204,000 or 56 per cent – represent Moldovan citizens and the rest of 160,000 or 43.9 per cent are foreigners, according to data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS). The average period of stay of a tourist in the reception structures last year was 5.6 days, of which 7.5 days for Moldovan tourists and 3.1 days for non-resident tourists.
The number of tourists accommodated at tourist cottages or vacation villages, hotels, motels and recovery structures increased in 2018 against the year before. On the other hand, the number of tourists accommodated in hostels for visitors and tourist and agro-tourist pensions decreased.
Most tourists who accommodated in Moldova came from such countries as Romania (28 per cent), Ukraine (11.7 per cent), Russia (8.1 per cent), United States (six per cent), Germany and Italy - four per cent each.
In 2017, more than 337,000 tourists were accommodated in collective tourist reception structures of Moldova.
