Singer Irina Loghin celebrates 80th anniversary

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/- Irina Loghin, folk singer of Romania, is today 80 years.
She was born on 19 February 1939, in Prahova county. She was singer in Ciocarlia, Barbu Lautaru and Ciprian Porumbescu bands. With a rich concert activity and a great number of discographic recordings, Irina Loghin sang for a long time also abroad.
In 2000-2004 she was MP in the Parliament of Romania, and in 2004-2008 - Romanian senator in Giurgiu county, trying to help Romanian artists and the elders.
On 19 December 1967, she was awarded Cultural Merit Order, 4th grade, “for outstanding and long artistic activity,” and on 29 November 2002 - National Cross "The Faithful Service", 3rd grade, "for the creation and transmission with talent and dedication of significant literary works for the Romanian and universal civilization" and on 7 February 2004 - Cultural Merit Order, category D, “as appreciation of all activity and the dedication and talent service performing stage”.
In May 2014, Loghin was awarded the Order of Honor by Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti.
