Moldova supports territorial integrity of Ukraine

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/- Moldova does not recognize the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and reiterates its concern about the perpetuation of the crisis in Ukraine and hostilities in the eastern regions of the neighboring country, affecting the security situation in the whole region. State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Tatiana Molcean made the statement yesterday at the UN General Assembly debates.

The debates were dedicated to the examination of the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and were opened by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The event reconfirmed Moldova's willingness to further support Ukraine's efforts to overcome the crisis in Donbas and restore the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the neighboring state.

Tatiana Molcean "highlighted the need for the Russian Federation to cease destabilizing activities in the region of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, strict observance of the fundamental principles of international law and full implementation of the relevant UN General Assembly resolutions, in particular resolutions on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the full and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova."
