Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/- Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniţă expressed confidence that there will be no significant shortfalls in the 24 February elections. The official made the statement in an interview exclusively for MOLDPRES.
"I am convinced that there will be no significant slippages because I have seen the interest of the authorities and all observers in the development of a process to fully observe the democratic standards. I think that in the Republic of Moldova everyone understood the need to organize a free and fair electoral process, “ he said.
At the same time, the official noted that in our country there are some geopolitical influences. "I do not think that Moldova enjoys the luxury of evaluations without geopolitical influence. There is an unresolved situation in the Republic of Moldova, I refer to the Transnistrian conflict. There are foreign troops. There are almost daily reports on propaganda, cyber attacks, fake news. There are some citizens who want to promote European integration and others who want the country to move towards the Eurasian Union. All this makes me to emphasize that geopolitics is still in the Republic of Moldova ", Ionita said.
The official added he wants after elections our country to remain west-oriented and continue European path, as this process is useful and necessary, and at the end of European road, Moldovan citizens are the ones who will win.
On 24 February, citizens of the Republic of Moldova with voting right are expected to vote for the future parliament.
