25 new buses to operate today in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/- Today, 25 new buses will run on the streets of the capital. The new buses will carry passengers on routes 5, 19 and 26.
Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu handed over the keys. He said that the buses are new and the acquisition will solve the problem of providing high quality public transport for the inhabitants of the capital.
Vitalie Butucel, head of the public transport and communications department of the Chisinau city hall, said that the new transport units will operate on routes 5, 19 and 26. The decision was taken after the authorities examined the notifications received from the residents of the capital. According to Butucel, the officials are currently carrying out the procedures for approving the documents, and if they are completed by the evening, then Chisinau residents will see them today on the streets of the capital.
The contract on the purchase of 31 new buses was signed yesterday in Chisinau. The new transport units cost 78 million lei, the price of a bus being 130 thousand euros (2.6 million lei). The new buses are ISUZU Citiport and have a two-year warranty. Also, they have air conditioning.
Earlier, the acting mayor of the capital said that out of about 100 buses in the existing park, 35 are ruined daily, and no new ones were purchased 13 years.
