Seven medical institutions in Moldova provided with advanced equipment

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/- Seven medical institutions in the country were equipped with simulators for the gynecological examination due to be used to train specialists in cervical screening. The equipment was purchased by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the International Development Cooperation Agency of Romania (RoAid) under the project Cervical Cancer Prevention 2017-2020.

According to the press service of UNFPA, The Cytological Laboratory of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center has benefited from advanced equipment too.

Tatiana Sulima, head of the department at the Raisa Pacalo Center of Excellence, said that gynecological simulators will be used to train students, residents and nurses in the correct sampling of the cytology test at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nciolae Testemitanu, the Raisa Pacalo Medical and Pharmaceutical Excellence Center, the medical colleges in Orhei, Balti, Ungheni and Cahul and the Center for Continuing Medical Education of Medical and Pharmaceutical Staff with Medium Studies.

Equipment provision took place under the project Cervical Cancer Prevention 2017-2020, carried out by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection with the support of UNFPA and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in partnership with the International Association for Prevention of Cervical Cancer and RoAid. The project aims to reduce cases of cervical cancer.

According to statistics by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, there are about 160 cases of death from cervical cancer annually in our country.
