Exhibition on woman's image in fine arts varnished in Chisinau municipality

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ – An exhibition, titled: The woman's image in fine arts was varnished today at the National Art Museum of Moldova (MNAM).

The exhibition includes 51 works from museum collections, made by Bassarabian artists in 1950 – 2000.

Interviewed by agency, the institution director, Tudor Zbarnea, has mentioned that it is a topical exhibition of painting and graphics with the most successful works that consecrate the image of the woman as a constant reason that attracted and inspired the artistic spirits.

"We thought we should dedicate this exhibition to the woman by the coming of spring. For many plastic artists the woman is a source of inspiration, a source of beauty, love and gentleness. Here the image of the woman is found in different ways as a symbol of maternity, of eternal love in the creation of several established artists such as Mihail Grecu, Igor Vieru, Valentina Rusu – Ciobanu, Glebus Sainciuc, Ana Baranovici, Ilia Bogdesco, Isa Carmu, Aurel David, Alexei Kolabneak, Ghenadie Jalba, etc. They are the artists who have been constantly interested in portraiture in particular and, of course, portrait of the woman," said Tudor Zbarnea.

In this context, the head of the Union of Fine Artists (UAP), Dumitru Bolboceanu, has specified that many of exhibited works are known from various publications, and the encounter with their original stipulates an opportunity for satisfaction and pleasure.

The exhibition is open until 24 March.
