Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of the Cabinet of Ministers' meeting today, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, referred to the parliamentary elections held on 24 February 2019, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"We insisted that these elections should be held freely and fairly. And not in vain we insisted and invited a large number of observers, I refer to international observers, but also to observers inside the country. We have taken all steps to make these choices unfold and fair. I was very glad to see the preliminary reports from the OSCE and ODIHR that the polls were free and fair," said Pavel Filip.

The Premier said that the insignificant deficiencies noted could not influence the outcome of these polls. And voting in the Diaspora, this time, was less problematic at the polling stations abroad, with no major deficiencies.

"I want to thank very much to all those who have been involved and have made sure that these elections are held in a fair and professional manner. Last but not least, I want to thank the citizens who participated in this election. I think it is the most responsible part of the society that cares and gets involved in choosing a Parliament that will later intervene to solve the problems and provide a better life to the people," specified Pavel Filip.

Also, the PM said that, since today, ministers who have been relieved during the electoral campaign come back to work. "Until the legality of the elections and the validation of the mandates of the new MPs, the Government remains functional and has full powers. Subsequently, after validation, until the formation of a new Executive, we shall have a Government in power with limited powers. We still work, we still have many things to do. It is not the easiest time, so we do not have time to rest," said PM.
