Artists from 14 countries to participate in 2019 issue of Martisor International Music Festival in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Artists from Armenia, Austria, China, France, Russia, Italy, Latvia, the United Kingdom, Romania, Serbia, Spain, USA, Ukraine and Moldova will participate in the 53rd issue of the Martisor International Music Festival, due to be held in Chisinau and in the territory on 1-10 March.
At a today’s news conference, Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc said that Martisor was the most long-lasting festival and one of the most important cultural and artistic events in Moldova.
According to the official, the 53rd issue of the festival will comprise 47 music shows organized by: the state enterprise Moldova-Concert Concert and Impresario Organization, Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Organ Hall and the JOC National Academic Ensemble of Folk Dances. Twenty two of these concerts will be held in 13 districts of Moldova, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, two shows in Tiraspol and one in Bender.
Famous artists and artistic bands from abroad, such as Joy, Klezmer Swing Quartett, Barccara, Uriah Heep, Pupo, Goran Bregovic, Shenzhen Aihua Chinese Music Ensemble, Holograf, Gabriel Dorobantu, Mirage band, etc. are to give concerts at Martisor.
Traditionally, the festival brings to the country’s audience also the best known artistic bands from Moldova: Lautarii (The Fiddlers) Folk Music Orchestra, JOC National Academic Ensemble of Folk Dances, Presidential Orchestra, Brio Sonores band, Alex Calancea Band, Flueras, Folclor, Plaiestii, Cadanja, Rodoliubie, Diuz-Ava, National Chamber Orchestra, etc.
The Martisor-2019 International Music Festival will be inaugurated at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace, within a musical and choreographic show titled, În duet cu primăvara (In Duet with Spring). The Lautarii (The Fiddlers) Folk Music Orchestra, Alex Calancea Band, singers Monica Anghel, Paula Seling, Mariana Bulicanu, Vali Boghean, Ion Paladi, Cristian Botgros, Tatiana Jacota, Lilian Rosca, JOC National Academic Ensemble of Folk Dances, Brio Sonores band and Marut Margaritar children’s folk ensemble will participate in the concert.
Minister Monica Babuc stressed that a novelty of the current issue represented the fact that the trophy of the festival, made by fine artist Simion Zamsa, would be awarded to the participants in the event for the first time ever.
The budget of the Martisor Festival is 2.6 million lei this year.
The first issue of the Martisor International Music Festival took place at the Chisinau-based Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, the founder of which was Alexandru Fedco, the former director of the Philharmonic. The festival brings joy to the Moldovan audience with the presence of famous names not only of Moldova, but also from all over the world, turning Chisinau into a true cultural centre.
