Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/- The Google search displays the traditional Martisor (March trinket) on homepage. Those who click on the image are redirected to a series of information about Martisor and its history.
The Wikipedia portal mentions that Marţisor is "a little piece of ornament tied to a braided string made of a white and red thread, appearing in the tradition of Romanians and neighboring people. Women and girls receive trinkets and wear them during March as a sign of spring arrival," the source said.
According to a myth circulating in the Republic of Moldova, "on the first day of March, the beautiful Spring came out on the edge of the forest and noticed how a snowdrop sprouts. It decided to help it. Winter saw it, was angry and called the wind and cold to destroy the flower. Snowdrop froze immediately. Then Spring covered the snowdrop with hands, but it was hurt to a finger because of the barks. A drop of hot blood dropped from finger, which, falling over the flower, made it revive. In this way, Spring defeated Winter, and the trinket colors symbolize red blood on the white snow."
