Moldovan PM attends commemoration ceremony

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- Heroes of the Transnistrian war were commemorated today at the Maica Indurerata monument of the Eternity Memorial Complex. Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed the appreciation and gratitude for the courage, devotion and patriotism of the police, military, reservists and volunteers on behalf of the government and personally, in the defense of the national values, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
"It is a lesson about the dignity we still learn. We all have something that unites us: and then, and now, we want to live in an independent state where the rights and freedoms of our citizens are respected. For the first time since the armed conflict on the Dniester, the Chisinau authorities can control the entire border of the country, including the Transnistrian segment " he said.
Another important achievement, according to the prime minister, is the return of the issue on withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova on the UN agenda. "I have every confidence that raising this matter again to the attention of the world community, eventually we will be able to release Moldova from foreign troops," said Pavel Filip.
The premier also referred to the measures taken by the government for the social protection of war veterans. Among the most important actions are the establishment of monthly allowances, the increase of the pensions for the disabled invalids, and the restoration of the right to sanatorium treatment.
"Every meeting with you comes to give us a lesson of dignity and courage. I think we all have to learn to love our country and say that we alone can decide our fate, that we work for this country, for its people, for freedom, independence and territorial integrity " he said.
During the armed conflict on the Dniester there were about 60 thousand soldiers, policemen, reservists and civilians. 286 combatants have not return from the battlefield, and 284 remained invalids.
