Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - More companies have cut the retail prices for fuel by 0.9-3.2 per cent, only two days after the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) approved a new methodology on the formation of prices. According to this methodology, the pump prices are set by operators.

At a public meeting of ANRE, representatives of big oil companies said that they would proceed to reducing the pump prices, which presently do not fit the real costs.

The pump price for the most demanded petrol with the octane number A-95, posted by fuel supply stations today, is of 18.47 lei per one litre on average, - by 0.42 lei less than the earlier one. The diesel price is of 16.62 lei/litre and the one for liquid gas is of 10.72 lei/litre, according to companies’ official websites.

The ceiling selling retail prices of the Premium-95 petrol on 7 August 2018 were frozen at 19.01 lei for one litre and the one of diesel – at 16.89 lei/litre.

According to the methodology on the formation and application of prices for oil products, approved by ANRE on 11 March 2019, the prices for petrol and diesel will be calculated by operators. The National Energy Regulatory Agency will no longer establish ceiling prices.

Under the methodology approved, the prices will be set by taking into account the annual costs and rates of profitableness on the oil products sold per one enterprise of ten per cent at the most. This fact is provided for also in the amendments to the law on oil products market, approved by the parliament at its last meeting, and which entered into force on 1 January 2019.
