Moldovan foreign affairs minister, Swiss ambassador discuss development of bilateral relations

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and Kiev-based Ambassador of Switzerland to Moldova Guillaume Scheurer today discussed the present stage of the Moldovan-Swiss relations on the political, commercial, economic, cultural and other dimensions, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
The officials welcomed the dynamic character of the contacts between Moldova and Switzerland, including at international forums. The Moldovan foreign minister also appreciated the openness proved by the Swiss authorities for the promotion of priority interests on the bilateral agenda.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi appreciated Switzerland’s support in the process of starting negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement with the four European Free Trade Association member states (Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland), which, according to the Moldovan diplomacy head, will contribute to the increase in commercial flows and fully turning to account the economic cooperation potential through attracting investments into Moldova. At the same time, the Moldovan minister praised the valuable support provided by the Swiss Confederation as development partner of Moldova, preponderantly in the social and education sectors.
On the occasion of the traditional marking of the International Francophonie Day in March, Tudor Ulianovschi highlighted the involvement of the Swiss Cooperation Office in projects on the promotion of the French language in Moldova, preponderantly as main partner of the event, Grand Concert de la Francophonie, due at the National Philharmonic on 26 March 2019 and of a ceremony on awarding prizes for Francophone contests, scheduled for 20 March.
For his part, Ambassador Guillaume Scheurer stressed the importance attached by the Swiss Confederation to deepening the bilateral dialogue with Moldova and extending the cooperation fields, in order to carry out concrete projects for the benefit of both countries.
