Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers with neutral registration numbers are obliged to have the state’s distinctive sign MD applied on the vehicle. Otherwise, they can be fined with up to 300 lei.
Data by the National Patrol Inspectorate shows that, starting from 1 September 2018, the transport means from the left bank of Dniester and Bender city, which have permanent registration certificates and neutral registration plates, are allowed to the international road traffic. Yet, according to the Road Traffic Regulations, each driver moving with neutral registration numbers is obliged to have the state’s distinctive sign MD applied on the car.
Thus, in the last nine months, policemen have discovered over 250 drivers who failed to have the state’s distinctive sign MD glued on the vehicle. They received transfer pictures with the MD inscription from policemen, offered by the OSCE Mission in Moldova.
Under the legislation in force, the drivers who move with neutral registration numbers and do not have the MD distinctive sign on the car run the risk of being fined from 150 to 300 lei, with the application of two penalty points.
