Law amending pension indexation formula to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/- The law providing for amendment of the pension indexation and the presidential decree on its promulgation will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 15 March.

The law was approved by assuming the government's responsibility before the parliament.

Under the new formula set in law, pensions will be indexed according to the average price increases for the past three years, not just for the previous year as it has been so far. Accordingly, the new formula will allow indexing of pensions by 5.3% from 1 April, almost 2 times more than the old formula.

The law will enter into force upon its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova. At the same time, the indexation method established by the new law will also be used to determine the indexation coefficient of social insurance benefits and state social benefits on 1 April 2019.
