Moldova starts negotiations with United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland on Agreement of air services

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ – The decision on initiation of negotiations on the draft Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on air services and the granting of powers to negotiate was published today in the Official Journal. The document enters into force on the date of its publication.
The delegation empowered to negotiate will be led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Serghei Bucataru, which will initiate the final document. Also, the delegation includes: Ana Miron – head of Air Transport Service, Valentin Toncoglaz – head of Transport Cooperation Service, Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), Elena Echim – head of Bilateral Treaties Section, International Law Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) and Octavian Nicolaescu – director of the Civil Aeronautical Authority (AAC).
The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) notes that the draft Agreement was set in order to develop cooperation between Moldova (RM) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK of GB&NI) in the field of air transport, as well as "improve the legal framework in this sphere following the exit in 2019 of Great Britain out of the European Union".
At present, Moldovan passengers have direct flights from Chisinau municipality to 3 British airports, namely Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
