Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- The ten best and worst local and regional policies in Moldova, implemented in November 2018 - January 2019, were identified and evaluated by members of an Evaluation Council at the invitation of two development institutes in our country and Slovakia. The project aimed to describe sustainable, long-lasting practices that can be transferred to other communities.

Public policies were estimated by two methodologically approved criteria, taking into account their importance to the community and their sustainability. According to the analysis, the best five local public policies in our country refer to the green education program - Adopt a public space, in Ungheni, the "Dor de Codru" tourist route in the Central Region of Moldova, the ethno-tourism complex in Congaz village, Gagauzia, the modern waste management service in Hancesti district and the House of Culture in the village of Carmanova (left bank of the Dniester River), renovated with European support.

The council members also pointed out two negative policies that show some violations of the principles of transparency.

The analysis was worked out under the initiative Promoting transparency and financial sustainability of regional policies, state enterprise and local authorities in Moldova, implemented by IDIS Viitorul, in partnership with the Institute for Economic and Social Reform in Slovakia (INEKO). The initiative is financially supported by Slovakia’s Official Development Assistance Program (SlovakAid) and aims to improve the transparency and financial stability of local public authorities and Moldovan state enterprises by transferring know-how from similar projects successfully implemented in Slovakia.
