Six persons detained following raids of Moldova's National Anticorruption Centre

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Anticorruption officers have detained six persons, among whom customs employees, who were erasing from database vehicles with foreign registration numbers against money.
CNA’s data shows that, following searches made at more addresses, a chief in charge of the management of Customs Service’s databases, three inspectors and two intermediaries were detained. They would have systematically claimed sums amounting to 400 euros, in order to remove or influence the erasing from the information system of data on the record of vehicles with foreign registration numbers.
Five criminal laws on the committing of passive corruption, connected in one procedure, were opened after the raids. If found guilty, the customs officers run the risk of being sentenced to up to ten years of imprisonment and to be fined and the intermediaries – up to six years of imprisonment and to get fines.
