Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - The stopping or standing of transport units on sidewalks partially or fully is allowed only in specially arranged places. The National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) today came up with specifications on the latest amendments to the Road Traffic Regulations.
The INP press officer, Natalia Golovco, said that, after the appearance of more wrong information, the National Patrol Inspectorate had decided to make specifications on the new rules for parking on sidewalks.
Thus, INP informed that the stopping or standing of transport units partially or fully entering sidewalks was allowed only in specially arranged places, marked by the road signs Parking or Reserved Parking, as well as by the road surface marking Continuous Thin Line, accompanied by additional panels showing the way the vehicle is placed, with the observance of the minimum distance of 1.5 metres meant for pedestrians’ movement.
At the same time, standing vehicles should not block access to stairs, platforms or sloping planes or curbs, meant for people with special needs.
Golovco added that the stopping or standing of transport means on other road segments, which are not marked accordingly, even with the observance of the 1.5-metre distance, would entail contravention responsibility through imposing of a fine worth up to 1,500 lei and four penalty points.
