Over 2,000 Moldovans infected with flu since beginning of cold season

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/- Over 2,000 Moldovans have been infected with flu, and another 30 have died of this virus, since the beginning of the cold season.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, 2,071 cases of influenza, 235,289 cases of acute respiratory infections of the upper respiratory tract and 11,365 cases of severe acute respiratory infections were recorded in the country on 1 October 2018-17 March 2019. At the same time, there were 30 cases of death confirmed with the presence of influenza A (H1N1) virus. All deceased people have not been vaccinated against seasonal influenza.

In the past week, specialists recorded 48 cases of seasonal influenza, including 11 confirmed by the laboratory, 9,066 cases of upper respiratory tract infections and 434 cases of severe acute respiratory infections. Samples taken from influenza patients showed the presence of A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) viruses.
