EU provides funding for modernization of social institutions on both banks of Dniester

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/- The communities located on the right and left bank of the Dniester are urged to submit for financing projects on renovation of social infrastructure objects. The European Union will support the modernization of five social infrastructure objectives on each bank under the EU Program - Confidence Building Measures, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova.
"Project proposals for the modernization of social institutions, such as those in medicine, culture, sports or education, will be favored. Priority will also be given to projects on the rehabilitation of critical community infrastructure: water supply and sewerage networks, waste management systems, street lighting and others,” sources in UNDP said.
Only one locality or several localities on the same bank can submit the funding file of up to 80,000 euros from the funds provided by the European Union. Common applications will be financed up to 125,000 euros. Projects should promote cooperation and trust among people of the right and left Dniester.
The selection of proposals will be based on transparent and competitive procedures. Requirements, selection criteria, list of eligible localities and other details can be found. The deadline for applications is 8 April.
The fifth stage of the European Union Program – Confidence-building measures -was launched in January 2019. Since the program was launched in 2009, more than 80 social infrastructure objectives on both banks of the Dniester River have been renovated and equipped.
