Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament of the tenth legislative period has been legally founded. The chairman of the foundation meeting, MP of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Eduard Smirnov made statements to this effect, after President of the Constitutional Court (CCM) Mihai Poalelungi had unveiled the report on the results of the election of the parliament and validation of the mandates of the lawmakers elected.
After the CCM president, head of state Igor Dodon made a speech to the MPs. He congratulated the new lawmakers, noting that Moldova now had legitimate parliament, as well as president. “What comes next depends on us, the politicians. If we do not preserve the people integral, no state project makes sense. We must re-establish citizens’ trust in the state’s institutions and we need an economic leap,” Igor Dodon said.
The parliament speaker, deputy speakers are elected and the standing bureau is set up following the parliament’s legal foundation. The parliamentary factions, which work according to their own regulation, will be created in ten days following the first parliament meeting.
