Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The ratio between the number of tax payers and the one of pensioners is of 1.5 to 1, although, to ensure a sustainable pensions system, it would be normal that at least four employees contribute to the payment of one old person’s pension. The head of the National Social Insurances House (CNAS), Valentina Buliga, has unveiled information to this effect in an interview given exclusively to MOLDPRES.
According to the CNAS head, the pensions reform, initiated three years ago, starts yielding fruits. Buliga noted that, on the last period, the number of payers of taxes to the social insurances budget had been increasing, “due to authorities’ effort to fight the phenomenon of unregistered labour, de-block certain economic situations and take out pressure from economic agents.”
„Not without reason, the government has undertaken more actions to back motherhood and young families, for the return of Moldovan who left abroad. Namely the concern about the demographic tendencies in Moldova has prompted the promotion of more policies of support, in order to create new jobs or start a business in our country,” Valentina Buliga said.
Data by the National Statistics Bureau shows that 629,900 people older than 60 were living in Moldova in early 2018, which accounts for 17.7 per cent of all the stable population.
