Activist assaulting Democratic MP arrested

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/- Activist Pavel Grigorciuc who yesterday assaulted PDM lawmaker Sergiu Sirbu was detained and will be investigated for hooliganism.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the incident following which the Democratic MP came to an emergency was held yesterday near a cafe in the center of the capital. The police were asked by the deputy's wife, and the law enforcers went to the hospital to hear him and set all circumstances.

In this context, the police initiated a criminal case for hooliganism. Under the legislation, the suspect risks a custodial sentence of up to 5 years.

During preliminary investigations, it was found that Grigorciuc is a repeat offender, with a previous 4-year sentence with suspension of punishment for hooliganism in 2014 and riots in 2015.

Last night PDM came with a press release expressing indignation at the aggression of Sirbu, PDM deputy head.
