Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The situation in the poultry sector in the context of winning the right of export of meat and birds’ eggs, category B, to the European Union was analyzed in Chisinau at a meeting of operators in the field.
Director of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) Ion Sula gave assurances that the institution he leads would provide support to producers of poultry and birds’ eggs from Moldova. “Support is necessary on behalf of producers as well. This implies investments and involvement, so that, together, we can replace the import to Moldova, increase exports and diversify them. We have potential and it remains to turn it to good account,” Ion Sula said.
A state secretary at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Iuliana Dragalin, noted that the rigours and criteria imposed on the EU market cannot be achieved in a short period, as this is a complex process. Dragalin also said that Moldova had already made the first steps to get the right to export poultry and eggs, B category, to the European Union.
At the event, a state secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Daniela Morari, said that, at present, almost 70 per cent of Moldova’s exports reach the EU market. Morari also said that, of the animal origin products, Moldova exported honey and caviar to the EU market. In this context, the getting of the right to export poultry and eggs is a priority for Moldova this year, Morari added.
To be eligible in the export of animal origin goods, Moldova must successfully go through the audit mission DG-Sante, scheduled for next September, by fulfilling a string of basic conditions.
At present, 25 slaughter houses for birds and 22 centres for marking/packing of eggs work in Moldova. Seventeen centres of them work at poultry enterprises and two enterprises are specialized in carrying out operations for the collection and packing of eggs.
