Border Police received six specialized mobile containers

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- The Border Police has received six modular containers that will allow the creation of the necessary infrastructure to extend the joint control activity to the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The US Government donated the containers under the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS).
The donation includes four dwelling modules, equipped with all necessary for living (beds, tables, kitchen, refrigerator) a bathroom and a technical equipment warehouse. The goods cost 50 thousand dollars.
Border Police Chief Fredolin Lecari said that the donation is very useful in order to ensure working conditions for border police officers trained in joint control and patrol on the central sector of Moldova, Ukraine.
The US Ambassador to Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan, said that this assistance is a very good example of the partnership for securing Moldova's borders and improving the patrol capability at the eastern border. "I urge the Moldovan government to ensure that the Border Police has sufficient resources to recruit, train and equip the additional officers needed for joint patrols," the diplomat said.
The Border Police has said that assistance worth over 230,000 dollars will be delivered shortly to further support the institution's logistical capabilities.
