Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan capital’s district praetors and employees of the housing and utility department of the Chisinau city hall will be able to impose fines to the owners of dwellings from the capital who throw waste on accumulation platforms without having signed a contract with the Autosalubritate (Auto-sanitation) administration. At the same time, the local authorities will submit a petition to parliament to demand increase in fines for insanitation.
At a today’s weekly meeting of the city hall’s services, the acting general mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, said that there were 42 addresses in Chisinau, where owners of private houses were throwing waste from their households on accumulation platforms, without having signed a contract with the Autosalubritate administration. The acting mayor noted that the authorities were willing during three months to evacuate for free the trash from private houses which do not pay for the evacuation of trash at present. If owners fail to sign a contract on the evacuation of waste on this period, then they run the risk to get big fines.
„The city will be clean when each of us understands that it is easier not to make dirty than to clean. We pay for the sanitation of the city as citizens too. It is indifference and full lack of common sense when they clean on platforms from the Muncesti highway thrice a week, but it looks like they do not clean at all because of the private sector, which overnight brings vine, branches, armchairs, beds, bags with trash. We have 42 such addresses in the city, where the private sector brings all they have to throw from houses on accumulation platform and neither they want to sign contract with Autosalubritate,” Codreanu said.
The director of the Autosalubritate administration, Eugeniu Axentiev, said that the enterprise annually had losses of more than one million lei for the evacuation of waste, given the lack of contract with beneficiaries. Presently, the Autosalubritate administration has signed over 13,000 contracts in the private sector; yet, there are still another more than 7,000 beneficiaries who should sign such contracts.
The tariff paid by enterprises for the waste evacuation is 22 lei, while private people pay between 9 and 16 lei for this service.
