Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will switch to the summer time on 31 March through setting clocks one hour forward.
The decision was taken in line with the proposal by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The switch to the summer time will be made concomitantly with the European Union member states.
The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry today said that, till next April, each European Union member state must inform whether it intends to permanently apply the summer or the winter time. Moldova will adopt the same position as the EU countries.
Potentially, the last compulsory change of the time will take place on 31 March 2019, which is the summer time and the countries willing to permanently switch to the winter time will be able to do this on 27 October this year.
In 2018, the European Commission organized a public consultation on the subject, within which 84 per cent of the Europeans answered in favour of giving up the seasonal change of the time.
