IMF to continue supporting Moldova

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue to provide support to Moldova and monitor the recorded results. The head of the IMF expert team, Ruben Atoyan, has stated about it, being on a working visit to Moldova. The official has met today the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, and Finance Minister, Ion Chicu.
The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) has announced that the officials discussed the economic results registered by Moldova in 2018, action plan for implementation of programmes for 2019, as well as macroeconomic forecasts for 2019.
Chiril Gaburici has expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the IMF to Moldova and reiterated the need to complete the implementation of the reform agenda. The minister also introduced the IMF mission on measures taken by the Government to facilitate and develop the business environment.
"We have been working constantly on a package of laws to improve business conditions. The attraction of foreign investments, creation of new well – paid jobs remain the Government's priorities for 2019," said Chiril Gaburici.
In this context, the representatives of the IMF mission noted the recent positive developments in Moldova and encouraged the authorities to continue implementing reforms in all sectors, especially financial, banking, energy and taxation.
An IMF mission headed by Ruben Atoyan is paying a working visit to Chisinau on 25 – 29 March.
