Deputy premier meets U.S. Ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic today had a meeting with Ambassador of the United States to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan. The event fit into an intense dialogue of support for the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute and updating the situation for the 2019 period, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Following the dynamic developments from 2018, the officials today discussed more sensitive subjects which harm Chisinau, in particular, the impact on the Varnita settlement of the so-called decrees issued by the Tiraspol leader, the last one from January this year, which worsen the process of negotiations and bother the village’s local residents.
A similar reaction was set forth by Moldova’s delegation at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission from 21 March 2019, demanding abstaining from unilateral actions and observance of the commitments taken.
One of the aspects discussed regard also the dynamic for six months of implementation of the mechanism for the transport means recorded in the points for the registration of transport means (from Tiraspol and Rabnita), as well as the positive effects of this mechanism. It is about a larger number of Transnistrian driver’s licences changed into the ones of Moldova, related to the overall number of transport means registered in these points, with bringing the vehicles’ owners to legal framework, as well as the decrease, on the last period, of the number of incidents regarding the participation of transport means in traffic based on the neutral registration plates.
The officials exchanged opinions on the apostilling of education documents for the USA, telecommunications sector, free movement, impertinent and intolerant statements by foreigners on the international stage, aimed at discrediting efforts to promote important subjects, oriented to citizens both from the right and the left banks of Dniester.
The deputy prime minister also informed Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan about the way Chisinau contributed to settling problems of the citizens from both banks of Dniester and the intention to tackle also subjects on security and public order.
Cristina Lesnic reiterated the intentions of the Reintegration Policies Bureau to help people in need of assistance, as well as of continuous adaptation, in order to cope with all needs of security and defence, especially in the Security Zone. She also stressed the importance to bring the other processes to the legal framework.
