Moldova to intensify cooperation relations on francophony

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/ – The diversification of Francophone projects and programmes in Moldova and intensification of cooperation with the International Organisation of Francophonie (OIF) were discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, with the Director of the Regional Office of the OIF for the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe (BRECO), Rennie Yotova, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
During the dialogue, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has said that Moldova is proposing an ambitious plan for implementation of the Linguistic Pact signed with OIF in the Erevan Summit, in order to strengthen the presence and role of the French language in education, culture, public administration and tourism.
"Among the projects that will engage in the promotion of French language in several fields, there is also the French-speaking initiative for the training of diplomats and civil servants, where representatives of the central administration will participate in French courses and thematic seminars," said Tudor Ulianovschi.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy reiterated the importance of promoting French in the diplomacy of Moldova as well as in the international arena. Also, it was stressed the need to launch concrete partnerships between the Central and Eastern Europe region with OIF member countries on the African continent, in order to exchange good practices in the field of sustainable development.
In this context, BRENO Director, Rennie Yotova, welcomed the exceptional quality of the action plan developed under the patronage of the MAEIE, with the involvement of all the national institutions concerned and of the Francophone partners.
The interlocutors reviewed the main events of the Francophone month held in Chisinau, welcoming the ascendant dynamics of cooperation with diplomatic missions as well as with the business environment. In particular, it was organised the International Olympiad of French Language during September 2019, as well as the close visit of Chief Executive Officer of OIF to Chisinau, Louise Mushikiwabo.
