Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan wines in 2018 got 673 medals at international contests, which is a record number, according to the website www.wine-and-spirits.md.
The number of distinctions Moldovan wines benefited from could be even larger, if we take into account the fact that not all producers presented the data demanded by the National Office of Vine and Wine. The companies Fautor, Vinaria Purcari (Purcari Winery) and Chateau Vartely are leaders in terms of the number of medals. Among the international competitions within which the goods of Moldovan wine-makers were highly appreciated, there are Pistonul de Aur, Romania, Mundus Vini Spring Tasting and Berliner Wien Trophy, both from Germany, Concours International de Lyon, France, London Wine Competition and many others. One hundred medals were won at the contest Black Sea Region Wines &Spirits Contest, organized in Chisinau under the patronage of the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
The participation in the international and local contests was sponsored by the National Office of Vine and Wine and the Competitiveness Enhancement Project for Moldova, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Embassy of Sweden.
In 2017, the success of Moldovan wine-makers was reconfirmed with 382 medals.
