Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/- Businesses in HORECA sector (hotels, restaurants, cafes) show a risky attitude to the government's measures, although they benefited most from the tax reform last year. Finance Minister Ion Chicu made the statement to this effect.
According to Chicu, most cases of non-release of receipts and therefore real turnover is being mastered, fall within this sector. He gave the example of a cafe in the capital. A tax post was set up there, and as a result, it was found that the real value of daily sales exceeds 4 times the declared amount.
This happens even though the sector benefits from 1 October 2018 from a 10% discount in VAT rate.
"I was saying at the stage of promoting the tax reform that we are far from thinking that all businessmen will understand correctly and adequately the government's message and will increase the degree of tax compliance. Along with the reduction of taxes and fees, and abolition of criminal liability for some tax violations, we will take measures to eliminate unfair competition between economic agents. The State Tax Service has already worked out and is implementing its action plan in this regard " he said.
The official urged consumers to be more demanding about the behavior of some economic agents and to ask for the cash receipt.
