Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - Dozens of tons of native fruits will be put for sale at the second issue of a fair titled, Ia Moldova acasă (Take Moldova Home), held on the square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral on 31 March.
Residents and guests of Moldova’s capital will be able to buy grapes, apples, plums and even blackberries at the fair. They will be displayed by over 20 farmers coming from all over the country. Organizers said that the fruit producers would bring 100 tons of Moldova grapes and 20 tons of apples to the centre of Chisinau.
The fair will start at 11:00 and will be held till the last buyer. The price of one kilogram of grapes will be five lei and will be sold only in boxes. The price of one box with apples will be 70 lei.
The event is organized in the Moldovan capital for the second Sunday in a row, at a request by the Chisinau residents, as well of farmers. The latter said they still had big reserves of grapes and apples in deposits and ran the risk to have financial losses. In the context, the producers urged consumers to donate native fruits on holidays and not bunches of imported flowers.
The first issue of the fair Take Moldova Home was held on 24 March, when more than 100 tons of grapes were sold.
Earlier this week, the acting general mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, suggested the organization of topic-related fairs in all districts of the capital, so that farmers can sell their goods and the Chisinau residents are able to purchase native fresh fruits directly from producers.
