National Bank of Moldova, Expert-Grup Centre launch first project on financial education nationally

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) and the Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre today launched the first project of financial education nationally titled, Learn! Give Sense to Money!.
The two institutions are set to enhance among young people the degree of understanding of the principal financial and banking concepts and products, so that, when facing situations, they take correct decisions in the management of their own incomes.
„We want to contribute, through the financial education, to the development of a solid financial system, in which consumers are well-informed and protected, educated and take financial decisions responsibly,” Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Octavian Armasu has said in his inauguration speech.
The Expert-Grup executive director, Adrian Lupusor, said that “the enhancement of the level of financial education will help residents to take proper financial decisions, according to the personal and family circumstances, thus contributing to a better management of the personal money and to a better stability of the financial system.”
The project is meant especially for teenagers, entrepreneurs beginners and people employed; it will also take into account the needs of other categories of the population, who actively interact with the financial system, so that Moldova’s general level as regards the financial education is improved.
The project’s initiators said that it would last one year, during which the two institutions will strengthen efforts to enhance the level of residents’ knowledge in terms of personal incomes, in order to “give sense to money.”
The project will come up with a string of informative materials, due to cover the most important events with significant financial impact in the life of a man, explained in a simple language, understood by everybody. Also, trainings and activities of promoting informative materials are envisaged, so that an as larger as possible number of people benefit from them.
Attending the event were decision-makers of BNM, Finance Ministry, Education, Culture and Research Ministry, National Commission for Financial Market, representatives of licenced banks, insurers, other institutions in the field, as well economic experts.
