Moldova attracts over 80 per cent of foreign direct investments from European Union in 2018

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - About 84.5 per cent of the direct investments in form of accumulated shares came from European Union countries in 2018. Investors from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) had a quota of six per cent of all the capital accumulated and the investments from other countries accounted for 9.5 per cent of all investments, according to data by the National Bank of Moldova.
The net inflows of capital in form of direct investments in Moldova amounted to 196.68 million dollars in 2018, by 31.3 per cent more against the year before. The new shares in the enterprises from Moldova stood at 107.42 million dollars. The reinvestment of profits by foreign investors into Moldovan daughter enterprises in the net value amounted to 25.24 million dollars.
According to BNM, the net inflows of capital in form of foreign direct investments in Moldova accounted for 2.1 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product.
The stock of commitments in form of direct investments totaled 4 billion 87.40 million dollars (up by 9.5 per cent since early 2018) and represents 42.9 per cent of all foreign passives. The quota of the foreign direct investments in form of shares is of 53.2 per cent of all foreign direct investments and the rest represent loans.
