Moldova's National Health Insurances Company to finance more cardiac surgeries in 2019

Chisinau, 2 April /MOLDPRES/ - The National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) will finance about 6,400 heart surgeries both in children and adults in 2019. As much as 206 million lei will be allocated to this end, - up by 29 million against 2018.
According to the CNAM press service, insured people, put in hospitals according to the schedule or in emergency cases, will benefit from free of charge operations. As for the scheduled operation, citizens appeal to the family physician, who issues a referral for the carrying out of the needed investigations, consultations at doctors specialists. These operations are made in 2019 at four medical institutions (two public and two private ones), contracted by CNAM.
The Company’s press service also said that, in 2018, more than 5,700 people benefited from heart surgeries; 4,445 operations were minimally invasive in adults following heart attacks; 47 minimally invasive operations in children with congenital malformations and about 1,200 other cardiac surgeries.
The cost of one case treated within special programmes of cardiac surgeries varies from 27,000 lei, in case of minimally invasive operations in adults, up to almost 79,000 lei, in those made in children.
