The trainings take place within a regional project of the European Commission titled, Implementation of the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) principles and practices in the Eastern Partnership Countries, ENI SEIS II East.

”National specialists learn from the experience of Slovakian colleagues and the ones of the European Environment Agency how to process and analyze data. At the same time, they will learn how to work out the report, beginning with the stage of coordinating the process of reporting up to the collection of data based on the monitoring, official statistics and calculating indexes,” a head of department at the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Agency, Veronica Lopotenco, has said.

The agenda of the training provides for practical demonstrations and exercises of implementing the European methodology of working out the environmental report, having at the basis case studies of the Slovak Environment Agency.

The national reports on the state of environment are elaborated once in four years and their goal is to make a comprehensive evaluation of the state of environment in the country, tendencies and prospects for a certain region, thus representing a useful instrument of informing the public, as well as of improving the environmental policies. A similar report was elaborated in Moldova on the period 2007-2010.

The regional project ENI-SEIS East II is financed by the European Union, through the Eastern Neighbourhood Instrument and is implemented by the European Environment Agency. The project’s partner countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The project’s general goal is to support the implementation of principles and practices of the Shared Environmental Information System and strengthen the process of periodical reporting, including the elaboration and implementation of the environment indexes.
