New rules of parking vehicles to enter into force in Moldova starting 22 April

Chisinau, 05 April /MOLDPRES/ – Starting 22 April, there come into force new car parking rules, and drivers who break them are going to be fined by MDL 1,500 and four penalty points. The announcement was made by the National Patrolled Inspectorate (INP), which says that until then the patrol agents will intensify the activities for detection of drivers who illegally park on the road and in courtyards of the blocks.
According to the INP's data, there were punished over 8,400 drivers for stopping or parking in irregular places in 2018, and more than 540 ones have been fined in the first quarter of 2019, or 75 per cent less than in similar period of 2018.
The INP requires drivers to park their cars in such a mode that they do not impede other road participants and opt for the use of public transport.
According to the amendments to legislation, it enters into force on 22 April, the stopping or parking of the transport units with partial or full entrance on sidewalk are allowed only in the specially arranged places, marked by a parking sign "parking" or "reserved parking" road "continuous narrow line", accompanied by additional panels indicating how to position the vehicle, respecting the minimum distance of 1.5 m intended for pedestrian traffic. Also, stationary vehicles should not block access to stairways, ramps or curved inclined curbs for persons with special needs.
