Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - The weather will undergo no essential changes on the days to come and the air temperature will maintain at +18 Celsius degrees. At the same time, the next week might bring the long-awaited rains, due in places in all Moldova’s regions.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), warm weather is expected on 7 and 8 April, with the air temperature due to increase to +20 degrees during the day in the southern region. At night, the air temperature will vary between +6 and +8 degrees. The weather will slightly cool starting from 9 April; yet, the air temperature will practically not change at night.
Rains much expected by farmers might be recorded next week. Most precipitation is expected in northern Moldova; yet, meteorologists forecast rains also in the central and southern regions, though less. “For the time being, we cannot talk about drought and the level of humidity in the soil is proper for carrying out agricultural works. Nevertheless, rains are needed, as the situation can change to the detriment of farmers,” a chief consultant at the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, Marin Grama, has told MOLDPRES.
According to SHS, the following phenomena are possible in April: fog (1-4 days on average) and thunderstorm (1-2 days). Snowstorm and hail can be signaled; yet, their frequency is pretty low (not more than 1-3 cases in ten years). Among the destructive weather phenomena, frost and strong wind pose the greatest danger in April. They are recorded, on average, once in 3 and 5 years, respectively. Intensive hail is possible, on average, once in 13 years and torrential rains – once in 20 years, on average.
The old-style Orthodox Christians celebrate the Annunciation on 7 April. They say that, on Easter, the weather will be similar to the one recorded on the Annunciation Day.
