Chisinau, 07 April /MOLDPRES/ – The old Orthodox Christians celebrate today Good Annunciation, known in the people as Blagovestenia. The feast is marked by the Christian calendar on 07 April yearly and is dedicated to the Mother of God.
It is a fixed-date feast, from which the nine months begin to count until Christmas, when Mary bore Jesus. On this day, Archangel Gabriel told the Holy Virgin that she was the one chosen by God to give birth to the Saviour Christ. It is one of the Lord's 12 feasts. For eastern Christianity, it has dated since 550.
Similarly, not only the Orthodox Church, but also the Catholic Church, maintain that the Annunciation took place in Nazareth, and the only difference is the exact location where this miracle happened.
The Annunciation is fish release, and tradition says that whoever tastes the fish in this feast will feel all year long like fish in the water. Earlier, it was believed that fishermen were not allowed to throw polenta in water because fish died.
Also, on this day it is good to lay bread and salt for the food for angels on the house threshold. Also, it is considered that "as is the weather condition on Annunciation, so it will be the Easter one."
