Campaign on preventing corruption in medical system launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - The National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) today launched a campaign on the prevention and fighting corruption in the health system titled, Corruption Seriously Harms the Health.
At the campaign’s launch event, the leadership of MSMPS and CNA signed a cooperation agreement, under which anticorruption trainings will be organized daily during three months (April-June). Thus, CNA officers will organize activities of anticorruption training with MSMPS employees, managers, deputies and jurists subordinated to the ministry, medical staff from the republican, municipal and district public medical institutions, teaching staff of the medical education institutions. Physicians will be informed about the prevention and reduction of corruption risks at the medical institutions.
After the official launch of the campaign, the first training took place with the managers of all republican, municipal and district medical institutions.
MSMPS’ data shows that the medical institutions from Moldova work based on a sectoral anticorruption action plan in the health sector. The document’s goal is to improve the Moldovan residents’ access to qualitative health services, optimize the public financial resources, by ensuring a transparent, receptive and rigorous decision-making process.
According to a study recently made in Moldova, informal payments in the health system amount to about 300 million lei annually.
