Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/ - The spokesman for the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vitalie Gamurari, made specifications on the holding of plurality of offices of minister and MP at a PDM’s weekly news briefing today.
According to Gamurari, information has recently appeared in the Moldovan media, alleging that Prime Minister Pavel Filip, as well as several Democrat ministers from the present cabinet, who were elected lawmakers in Moldova’s parliament, should have resigned.
“I want to remind that there is the Constitutional Court’s decision from 24 June 2015, reading that the ministers who were elected MPs remain in office till the swearing in office of a new government,” Gamurari said.
Under the legislation in force, in a 30-day period after the validation of the mandates, the lawmakers must choose between the offices earlier held and the one of MP. In Moldova, the lawmaker’s mandate is incompatible with any other remunerated position, as well as with any other office paid by a foreign state or international organization.
