Twenty beekeepers of Moldova to receive vertical beehives within USAID project

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/ – A number of 20 beekeepers from different districts of Moldova will benefit from 80 vertical beehives, awarded by the USAID Agricultural Performance in Moldova (USAID/APM). The beneficiaries were selected by the Association of Beekeepers of Moldova (ANARM).

There were selected 20 beekeepers from 60 applicants. The files were evaluated by a group of professionals and each selected beekeeper was visited to confirm the info included in the application.

The vertical beehives have shown that they are more efficient in exploitation, which allows beekeepers to expand their activity by increasing the number of bee families, quantity and quality of honey.

In 2018, the USAID/APM project through ANARM distributed 2,400 vertical hives to 30 beekeepers. Also, over 800 beekeepers have been trained in the management of bee families in vertical beehives.

At present, there are about 6,000 beekeepers in Moldova managing over 230,000 bee families.
